NAO UPDATE | Provided as a Member Benefit July 10, 2017

From the CEO's Office

I hope you all had a happy Independence Day! We hope you celebrated with friends and family this past week. I am writing as I transition into the CEO role to give you some temporary contact information should you need to reach me. We are getting the logistics worked out for communication and will have that resolved soon. For now, should you need to reach me my email is j.register@nationalahec.org and my cell number is 336.588.9156.

As the summer moves along and we all prepare for the HRSA implementation I wanted to also take a moment to ask you to consider helping us out with a survey of three questions, 1) what do you think your center or program does very well; 2) what could your center or program do better if there were no barriers; and 3) what is one thing you would like to see the NAO do differently, or do more of, or stop doing altogether? Please provide your response by Friday, July 21, 2017.

These questions will help me begin to hear your concerns as I get to know you and your centers or programs better.

Thanks for all you do and I look forward to working with all of you!

Vaccine myths: Where did they come from?

We've all heard the common myth that vaccines cause autism. What about another myth that spreading out or delaying certain vaccines is safer for kids? Learn about "Four Vaccine Myths and Where They Came From," in this Science Magazine article.

Special Interest Groups

Please keep the momentum going on the NAO SIGs — I know that they have been useful! Remember: anyone can add a SIG and work with AHEC colleagues from anywhere in the country. It may make sense to create more SIGs regarding AHEC redesign with a focus on practice transformation. If there is interest, we can supply a dial-in number and log-in for those interested in sharing information and resources.

Here's the link to the growing spreadsheet; and remember, you can edit and add areas of interest.
