NAO Strategic Planning Meeting
As I write this, I am waiting on my Friday afternoon flight home to Rhode Island after a tremendously successful week in D.C., both doing Hill and HRSA visits and engaging in strategic thinking and board development and board governance activities. Once the dust settles and the final report is completed, I'll provide a good deal of information as to our decisions, agreements, and exciting future plans. Needless to say, the work the board, the committee chairs, and a past-president or two did during the week was quite impressive and will help move NAO forward in a variety of important and strategic ways. Many, many thanks to NAO president John Blossom for his excellent leadership, and thanks to the board and committee chairs for being so engaged and committed to NAO's success. Finally, kudos to the planning committee for building such a productive and well-organized meeting.
One of the themes that did emerge is the issue of communication and member needs. With so many moving organizational parts, it can be challenging to inform you all on the myriad activities and initiatives in which NAO is engaged. I'm very interested to hear from you all regarding communication from my office. Do you feel sufficiently informed? Would you like more and different forms of communication? Do you check out the NAO Facebook page periodically and has that has been a good tool to use? Please let me know your thoughts; I'm eager to hear them. Also, if I can help you tell the story of your AHEC, particularly to your elected officials in D.C., please feel free to send me one-pagers that highlight your successful and impactful programs.
I hope you all have a fantastic and well-deserved Thanksgiving Break, and look for more information regarding our strategic thinking meeting very soon. Now it's time to find a local race for Turkey Day, because Thanksgiving just isn't Thanksgiving without a hard run in the morning!
Enjoy the Holiday and look for the next Monday Update to come out mid-week next week.
Look how hard NAO's leaders work for you!
